Extremely rare antique Portuguese rose cut diamond statement ring circa 1760s, in excellent vintage condition with minor wear of sign-R1263
I’ve encountered Portuguese rings from the same period set with colored stones like chrysoberyl, aquamarine, topaz, and rock crystal. But one exclusively set with diamonds? It’s the only one that I’ve seen.
Diamonds are rare and rank 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it incredible to imagine the time and craftsmanship required to precisely hand cut these diamonds precisely to fit the ring’s arrangement over 250 years ago.
The settings are crafted in silver, adorned with gold beading and twisted wires: characteristic of Portuguese jewelry from the 1700s to early 1800s.
The arched, mirror-polished back not only enhances its aesthetic beauty but also ensures that it sits smoothly and comfortably on the finger.
Aside from a minor soldering trace near one shoulder, the ring is in impeccable condition, with the shank remaining unaltered. It’s truly magical!
